What is helix dizi?

Helix dizi is a type of Chinese flute that belongs to the family of dizi flutes. It is named for its unique, twisted shape, which resembles a helix or coil. The helix dizi is generally made from bamboo and produces a distinctive, high-pitched sound that is well-suited for traditional Chinese music.

The helix dizi has six finger holes and one blow hole, with a total length of around 18 inches. It is played by holding the dizi in a horizontal position and blowing into the blow hole while using the fingers to cover and uncover the finger holes to produce notes of different pitch.

In addition to its use in Chinese music, the helix dizi is also popular in other parts of Asia, including Japan and Korea. It has gained popularity in recent years as a beginner's instrument due to its relatively simple design and ease of use.
